Old solutions still work, L4D2 doesn't get a lot of updates. I suggest getting things working first, then adding mods one at a time to make sure they don’t cause problems. Mods, specifically skins or ones that change weapon values can cause problems/conflict errors, but it is generally rare (the mod is poorly programmed). It will find any corrupt files and replace them with the original. Go to your Steam Libray, click on the game, click on properties, select the Local tab: Verify Integrity of Game Cashe. If you can’t Local Host, because of file conflicts, the problem exists on your computer, and is likely in your base game files. Local hosting works just fine if you have a decent internet connection. Other campaigns may have servers that run them, but that is purely based on how popular they are with whoever runs those servers. Only campaigns that valve decided to support with servers at one time will have an official server. I am really out of options at this point, and cant find any up to date tutorials, because no one else has problems with this anymore.
i dont even know if the serer is set up or not, i dont know how to check. i looked it up, followed the steps, but it still didnt work. i think we can play the popular maps, because people have made servers with those maps, so i think creating a server would help, but i have no idea how to make a server. With or without mods i can play the maps by myself. I thought it was a mod that was not compatible, so i uninstalled all my mods. The file varies from a boomer one, to a "Chrome Shotgun". Whenever we try to play other maps like the FNAF maps, i get to the loading screen and when it finishes loading, it kicks me out and gives me an error about some game file. None of them seem to work, except for a few like urban flight, popular maps like that. We have tryed to play together through dedicated server, best available dedicated, and local. So, i have been trying to do this for 3 months now.
